October was in the chair, so it was chilly that evening, and the leaves were red and orange and tumbled from the trees that circled the grove. The twelve of them sat around a campfire roasting huge sausages on sticks, which spat and crackled as the fat dripped onto the burning applewood, and drinking fresh apple cider, tangy and tart in their mouths.

I love that book.
That makes me unreasonably happy. It is an excellent book, and one of the most well-organized collections I have ever read.
I don't know that book. However, October is my favorite month. I welcome it like a long-lost lover. And actually, being back home again, where the weather - though inconsistent - seems "right" to me: it makes October feel all that much sweeter. I'm glad it's a long month.
That scene makes me unbelievably hungry. I read Good Omens and loved it to death. I should check out more of his work.
