So close!

A strange, lanky fellow comes to our door.

I'm expecting him.  We've been emailing each other back and forth the past few hours negotiating the sale of a pair of football tickets I'd picked up.

He comes in, we chat idly for a minute or two before getting to the business at hand.  I always feel weird just accepting someone's money right off the bat.

As we talk about the neighborhood and what he's been doing the past year, he suddenly stops talking and looks across the room at The Wife.  She is standing at the kitchen counter, pulling oregano out of a plastic bag and de-stemming the dried leaves. Since she's had LASIK surgery within the past 36 hours, her eyes are bloodshot and slightly inflamed.

"Dude!  Is that weed?"

We both give the man very perplexed looks.

"This?" she says, holding up the bag. "This is oregano."

The expression on the stranger's face is one I can only describe as crestfallen.

You live in a college town, no?

Wife got LASIK? How'd it go?

tamayn - How's you guess?

Procris - She did! She says, "It wasn't the most pleasant experience, but it went swiftly and I can now see 20/20 - even if my vision is still slightly hazy, though that should go away soon."

She's wandering around with very classy sunglasses on to protect her eyes, and has some fairly nasty looking blood-spots in her eyes, but other than that, she's doing great!

haha. I think it's time to keep your oregano in those little spice bottles to avoid confusion. :)

Tell her I'm intensely jealous. I will also probably inquire for an update in ... oh, 4 to 6 months, as I always wonder how it ages. I almost got it (or the really-blind-people's version, PKR) right after graduation, but I took employment instead. Still wondering...
