Bam! I'm back. Have been for about a week, now.
After shaking off my jet lag, I've thrown myself into writing my third chapter and fretting about the job market. There's just so much to do!
I finally found - and joined - the APA/AIA job search wiki today. It even had a password with strange, cryptic instructions on its discovery. Very odd. Anyhow, it's guaranteed to add to my already thriving internet addiction.
Everyone said that going on the market was a ton of work. It is also extremely taxing on my nerves, and this is only the beginning of the season! There are just so many things out there... I could be working on another cover letter, or a research statement, or my goddamned teaching philosophy, or researching schools or finding more fellowships or, or, or... The list goes on.
It is sometimes hard to remind myself that, as much as I'd like to devote all of my time to perfecting each application - I really do need to finish the dissertation.
Le sigh.
On the plus side, I've already got several applications prepped and ready to go! Woo!

Welcome back, Harker! Ah yes. The job market. It sucks - no doubt. But if you score, holy shit, it's awesome.
Get your diss banged out and work on your letters. You can do it. It just sucks in the meantime. Best of luck. :)
Welcome home!
Congrats on the apps!
And can I just mention that I loved the title of this post so much I was ready to sign up for whatever it was without even reading a description? ("I'm a dork! I want to join!") ;)
Once you get a basic cover letter and teaching philo done, put it aside for a few days then come back it. You'll see things you want to change, or think of things in the betweentime that you want to change. My advice is to read as many ads as possible to see what the buzzwords and trends are. Then adapt your packet for each place. So, get something down for now, then follow the cookie trail.

Fie! - Thanks for the welcoming. I will definitely work on 'banging out' my dissertation. If by 'banging out' you mean whipping it ahead of me like a tired and dying mule...
Ink - We will start our own little club. We will serve classy drinks and read only the trashiest of fiction.
Unicorn - That's some solid advice right there. Thank you! I will use it well.
