Sacre bleu!

It is one thing to skim over a wretched article that is unfortunately relevant to your research interests.

It is quite another to painstakingly trudge your way word-by-word through a wretched, unfortunately relevant article written in French.

I shake my fist at you, Frenchman!

Shouldn't that be, "I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!"

Better than German? (Although, half-French, myself, I might be a bit biased...)

Sisyphus - Apologies, you are quite right. I hang my head in shame.

Anon - You know, I'm not so sure. I've never formally studied French, so I'm relying quite significantly on my knowledge of Latin and Italian. It's easier for me to skim than German, but I can currently puzzle out the grammar of German with more accuracy.

Impressed that you never formally studied it yet can read it! I studied it for 10 years and am pretty sure that I couldn't read it nowadays.

So...high five, Hark!

Yay! But you haven't answered a question that popped up in my mind? Was the article useful? I hope so!
